I've handwashed only since I've had my burgundy Benz for about 7 years. This winter, once, I used the brush (lightly) at a car wash. Sure enough, I've got swirl marks from that crappy brush. Anyway, twice a year I use a cleaner wax, a polish glaze and then a sealer wax. Im due to do it and will probably do so this weekend. Im tempted to use a rubbing compound first to smooth out the swirls. On the other hand, I'm also thinking that maybe my typical 3 step process of the cleaner wax, polish and sealer will take care of it and smooth out the swirl marks for good. I'm sure it will fill them in temporarily, but was wondering if a rubbing compound or something else would smooth things out better and get rid of the swirls. Also, if it helps I am only doing it by hand and not using an orbital buffer. car insurance. Auto parts : Interior Light Dodge 2005. Interior Light Bulb Eagle 2006. OK all you Trolls, here's your chance to really sound off......! Why is it, with all the makes and models of motorcycles here, only the Harley's and their owners get bashed on..? I don't see Honda people bashing Kawasaki's. I don't see Yamaha owners bashing Suzuki owners. In fact, I never see ANYTHING about anyone, EXCEPT them with a negative point of view - against Harley Davidson and us owners. I already have a fairly clear idea myself, but I'm curious if others here have seen this one sided bashing.? Now, don't get me wrong here. I am NOT crying over this. I think it's kinda funny my self and in a way, cute, seeing all these candy colored rocket racers getting their panties all up in a bunch over who can share the same freekin' air & road - the fastest..... looking like a flock of Power Rangers in their full colored leather costumes as they zoom, zoom down the road.. Any way, MPH, HP and MPG aside, anyone notice this bashing..?? Now, I ride HD.. I have for years. In fact, the day before I was born I was in the side car of my dad's 45 Flat Head.. Born 1950 and was on his motorcycle till 5.. On my OWN bike at 14, and been with one ever since. If my math is correct, I have been on a bike for 50 years now in one way or another. Audi . How to Remove a PT Cruiser 2.2L CRD Oil FilterThe Chrysler PT Cruiser is a compact 4 door car with a 2.2 liter 4-cylinder turbo engine. The oil filter is located under the engine on the drive's side of the oil pan. Every time the oil is changed on the Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.2L the oil filter needs to be changed as well. You need to have basic knowledge of the PT Cruiser in order to complete this job correctly. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Drain pan Ratchet set Step by Step : 1 Raise the right front side of the Chrysler PT Cruiser using the floor jack. Slide under the PT Cruiser on locate the oil pan, oil pan drain plug and oil filter. 2 Place the drain pan under the drain plug of the oil pan. Replace the drain plug to the oil pan and tighten. 3 Connect the oil filter tool to the oil filter and twist in a counter-clockwise motion. Once the oil filter is loose remove it from the engine. Tips & Warnings Allow the PT Cruiser's engine to completely cool off before you remove the drain plug or the oil filter to avoid serious burns from hot engine oil.
Audi . How to Remove Car OilOil is the most important factor in properly maintaining a car's engine. Not only does oil lubricate the engine's internal components, it also contains detergents designed to clean the engine. The effectiveness of oil diminishes over time, necessitating periodic replacement. Removing the oil from the engine is fairly simple, but care must be taken. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Oil catch pan Wrench Oil filter wrench Step by Step : 1 Position the car onto a level surface, then turn off the engine and allow several hours to pass for the engine to cool, because hot engine oil can burn skin. 2 Raise the front of the car with a jack, then position jack stands underneath the car's frame and lower the car onto the stands with the jack. 3 Place an oil catch pan beneath the single drain bolt on the bottom of the engine's oil pan. 4 Remove the drain bolt from the bottom of the engine's oil pan with a wrench and allow the oil to drain into the catch pan. 5 Position the oil catch pan directly underneath the oil filter. The location of the filter varies depending on the engine, but the filter is usually located at the front of one of the sides of the engine, and it looks like a soda can. 6 Twist the oil filter in a counterclockwise direction with an oil filter wrench until the filter detaches from the engine. *.Chapter 23: Keeping Your Car Clean and Beautiful f»71 If you've never washed the vehicle with a hose before, spray lightly around the edges of the windows and the rear deck lid for a short time and then check to see if the weather-stripping leaks. If it does, consult the instructions in Chapter 24 for patching or replacing weather-stripping, and try to avoid spraying these areas until you remedy the problem. Conserve water. Don't let the hose run while you work. Use it only to wet and rinse the car, and shut it off when you don't need it. Car Wash Association studies have found that people often use as much as 140 gallons for a single car wash, which isn't surprising when you consider that a &inch hose can deliver 14 gallons of water per minute. Use just enough water pressure to wet the exterior efficiently. Blasts at extremely high pressure may loosen and chip paint and parts. Use a sponge, soft rag (old terrycloth towels or T-shirts are wonderful), or cotton wash mitt. To avoid cobwebby scratches, follow the contours of the surface rather than going in circles. Rinse the rag often to get rid of grease and dust particles. Be thorough but gentle. Vigorous scrubbing can scratch and remove the paint. Before you wash the car body, hose it down to get rid of the surface dust, and then clean and polish such exterior surfaces as vinyl hardtops, convertible tops, glass windows and sunroofs, chrome bumpers and trim, side mirrors, wheel covers, whitewalls, and tires. Then, when you wash and rinse the car itself, you'll be sure to get off the last residue of all the substances you used for those jobs. Later sections of this chapter explain how to clean and restore some of those special surfaces. Use gentle cleansers unless you intend to rewax your car. Your car's sensitive skin requires gentle cleansers just as your own body does. Don't use laundry or dish soap or detergent; use a commercial car-washing product instead. Soap and detergent remove the wax and other protective finishes from the surface. Use biodegradable washing and cleaning products to minimize environmental pollution. Unlike the wastewater that is decontaminated and/or recycled by commercial car washes, the dirty, soapy water that you use travels down the sewers and into the waterways and oceans. If your car is really filthy and oily, it may be better to take it to a car wash. Always wash a car body from the top down so that soap scum and sludge don't muck up freshly washed areas. Remember to get to all the corners where dirt can collect and rust can form: behind the wheels, inside the fenders, and behind the bumpers. 1028

Dodge Intrepid. * i> Always read and follow the directions on the package. Some products can damage your skin or your cars surface if left on too long or if applied and removed improperly. Wash one section of the car at a time: Hose it down, soap it up, and rinse it off. When you've finished the entire vehicle, hose it all down again to get off every last bit of soap. Use a medium stream of water that flows off in sheets and makes drying the car easier. Make sure that no water collects in the tiny rust-prone spaces around the trim and behind the bumpers. Don't scratch at hard-to-remove dirt. Soak it loose by placing a wet rag on it. If your vehicle is befouled with tar or dead bugs, commercial solvents can get rid of them safely. Be sure to remove these intense cleansers thoroughly and wash the surface with soap and water immediately afterward. Towel-dry the car immediately with terry towels, diapers, or a synthetic chamois to get rid of water spotting that can mar the car's surface. Chamois are good for this purpose and can be washed, rinsed, and used for years. But they're more expensive, and I find that old, dry terry towels work pretty well, too. Besides, what else can you do with towels that have not only become too faded for the bathroom but are too torn even for the beach?
